Destiny, one small word with big meaning, I have stopped believing in destiny for a while until recently. In Singapore, chances are people will normally walk pass you by without even smiling, it’s normal. It’s a culture that I don’t follow. One fine morning, a lady in tracker suit randomly talked to me as I was walking to the train station.
“You look very happy,” she said. I then found out that she quit her job to follow her dream and passion to help others. After 10 years of working, all that money and success didn’t make her happy and she learned the hard way that happiness is the most important thing in life, well that and health. “What is your dream?” she asked. Truth is, I am still dreaming my dream.
Last night, I hopped on a cab; the driver started talking about his life. He showed me his hand, 3 fingers, quit his job to do nothing. Driving part-time because according to him, life is too short, do what makes you happy.
I started to wonder, what am I doing to make myself happy? How do I become content? What do I really want? The questions are so simple yet finding the answers to these questions are so tough. After months of not believing in destiny, I started to believe again, that maybe these people that came by and shared to me their story were destined to inspire me.
Happiness, the never ending equation to such a simple term.
